Sunwear should match the prescription, frame, activity, light conditions, and the way the customer actually uses the glasses. Sun Forge is planned as a clear path through those decisions—not a wall of unexplained colors and upgrades.

These are the approved launch prices already used in our complete-pair builder. They are lens upgrades per pair and remain subject to prescription, design, material, frame, and production availability.

Reflected-glare control

Polarized

+$119 per pair

Polarization filters intense reflected glare from surfaces such as wet roads, water, snow, and vehicle hoods. Gray and Brown are the available launch colors.

Know before choosing: Polarized lenses are fixed sunglasses, not night-driving lenses. Some dashboards, phones, and LCD displays can look darker or show patterns at certain angles.
Light-changing convenience

Cherry Photochromic

+$89 per pair

Photochromic lenses darken outdoors in response to light—especially ultraviolet light—and gradually return toward clear indoors. Gray and Brown are available.

Know before choosing: Most windshields block much of the UV that activates ordinary photochromic lenses, so they usually do not become as dark inside a vehicle as they do outdoors.
Consistent fixed color

Solid Tint

+$39 per pair

A solid tint keeps a similar color density from the top of the lens to the bottom. It can be selected for sunglass use, visual preference, or fashion when the chosen density is appropriate.

Know before choosing: A fixed tint stays tinted indoors. Very dark or unusual colors may not be suitable for driving or every activity.
Dark-to-light fade

Gradient Tint

A gradient is darker across the top and becomes lighter toward the bottom. It can reduce overhead brightness while keeping the lower lens lighter for a dashboard, phone, or menu.

Know before choosing: A gradient is not polarized and usually controls intense reflected glare less effectively than a polarized lens.
Reflective finish

Mirror Finish

+$89 per pair

A mirror finish adds a reflective front appearance over a Gray or Brown base. Available mirror colors are planned to include Silver, Gold, Blue, Green, Purple, and Rose.

Already included: Backside AR comes with Mirror at no additional charge. The builder does not add a second backside-AR fee.
Rear-surface reflection reduction

Backside AR

+$39 per pair

Backside anti-reflective coating reduces reflections created when light enters from behind the wearer and reflects off the inside surface of a sun lens toward the eye.

Know before choosing: Backside AR does not darken a lens or create polarization. It remains optional unless it is already included with a Mirror finish.
Color paths

The same color does not perform the same way in every lens.

Color describes appearance; the lens treatment determines the function. Gray or Brown can be photochromic, polarized, tinted, or used under a mirror, but those are different products and cannot be stacked as though they were interchangeable.

Photochromic and Polarized

Gray or Brown

Gray is commonly chosen for a neutral appearance. Brown can add a warmer view and stronger visual contrast for some wearers. The best choice still depends on comfort, task, and preference.

Solid and Gradient Tint

Eight launch colors

Gray, Brown, Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, and G15 are the planned tint colors. Final appearance can vary with lens material, tint density, lighting, and the screen used to preview it.

Our launch materials

Three materials—chosen for the prescription and frame.

Sun Forge will use the same focused material lineup as the rest of our launch: CR-39, Polycarbonate, and 1.67 High Index. The darkest or most expensive material is not automatically the best choice.

CR-39Strong optical clarity and value for many mild-to-moderate prescriptions when the frame and use are appropriate.
PolycarbonateLightweight and impact resistant. It is generally our starting recommendation for children and active everyday use.
1.67 High IndexA thinner-material option commonly considered for stronger prescriptions and appropriately sized frames.
Common questions

Can I order from Sun Forge now?

Not as a separate dedicated service. Eligible sun and color upgrades can already be added to a complete-pair build on the home page. The full Sun Forge experience remains marked Coming Soon.

Are polarized and photochromic the same thing?

No. Polarization filters reflected glare and remains a fixed sunglass. Photochromic lenses change darkness with outdoor light and return toward clear indoors. Each solves a different problem.

Will photochromic lenses become dark inside a car?

Usually not to the same degree as outdoors. Most windshields block much of the ultraviolet light that activates ordinary photochromic lenses. A dedicated polarized sunglass is often the stronger choice for daytime reflected driving glare.

Can I combine Photochromic, Polarized, Tint, and Mirror?

These are separate sun and color paths in the builder. Incompatible choices cannot be stacked. Mirror uses a Gray or Brown base and already includes Backside AR at no additional charge.

Can polarized sunglasses be used at night?

No. Polarized sun lenses reduce the light reaching the eye and are intended for appropriate daytime outdoor use. Do not wear dark or polarized sunglasses for night driving.

Does polarization provide UV protection by itself?

Polarization describes reflected-glare filtering; it is not the same thing as UV protection. The complete lens specification must be reviewed rather than assuming one feature automatically provides another.

Will the color on my screen match the finished lens exactly?

No. Screen previews are approximate. Lighting, display settings, lens material, tint density, mirror angle, and production can all affect the finished appearance.

Should I ask my eye doctor about sunwear?

Yes. Always consult your eye doctor about your prescription, light sensitivity, eye-health concerns, unusual glare, sudden vision changes, or whether a specific lens is appropriate for driving and other safety-sensitive activities.
